ELSA’s AI Chats (AI Roleplay Conversations) are designed to boost your conversational confidence and improve your real-time communication skills. Through immersive, interactive scenarios, you can practice speaking English naturally in a safe, judgment-free environment.

How to Get Started

Open the ELSA app and navigate to the Discover tab.
Browse and choose an AI Chat scenario that interests you.
Review the suggested tasks provided to help guide your conversation.
Dive in and start learning!

Choose Your Practice Mode

Tailor your experience depending on how you want to practice. You can select from three dynamic options:

Create My Own: Take total control! Design your own unique characters, roles, and storylines to practice highly specific scenarios.
Surprise Me: Let ELSA pick a random scenario for you—perfect for testing your spontaneous conversation skills.
Ready-to-Use Scenarios: Jump straight into curated, predefined scenarios built for common professional and daily life situations.

Every Role-Play session is equipped with interactive tools to guide your learning and keep the conversation flowing seamlessly:

Goal-Oriented Task Lists

Before the conversation begins, you are given a set of clear, numbered objectives (e.g., 1. Mention the dish you're interested in, 2. Ask about the ingredients).

Smart Suggestion Chips (Conversation Prompts)

If you ever find yourself stuck or unsure of what to say next, ELSA provides contextual Suggestion Chips at the bottom of the screen. These ready-to-use phrases serve as helpful prompts to guide your speech while keeping your responses natural and grammatically correct.

Inline Translation Icon

Keep your learning flow uninterrupted. If a response from the AI character is too difficult to understand, simply tap the Translation Icon (文/A) directly on the speech bubble. ELSA will instantly display the translation in your native language right beneath the English text, allowing you to quickly grasp the context and respond confidently.

Note: Set up the app display language in your mother tongue to see the translation. Translation will be hidden if you select the language as English.

Interactive Audio & Speech Controls

Tap to Speak: Use the prominent microphone button to speak naturally, practicing your pronunciation and flow.
Audio Playback: Tap the speaker icon on any text bubble to hear the native pronunciation of the dialogue as many times as you need.

Assessment Summary (Post-Lesson Feedback)

Once you complete a Role-Play conversation, ELSA instantly evaluates your dialogue to generate a comprehensive Assessment Summary. This post-lesson scorecard gives you a clear, immediate snapshot of your conversational strengths and specific areas to polish before moving forward.

Key elements of the summary include:

Personalized Performance Feedback: A tailored, AI-generated critique detailing how effectively you handled the specific scenario. It highlights positive elements (like your tone and engagement) while offering practical advice on phrasing or clarity corrections.
Multi-Dimensional Skill Levels: An instant evaluation that rates your proficiency level (e.g., Intermediate, Advanced) across three essential linguistic pillars:
- Vocabulary: Measures the range, variety, and appropriateness of the words you chose.
- Grammar: Checks your structural accuracy and sentence composition.
- Pronunciation: Evaluates your spoken clarity and speech delivery.
Deep-Dive Analysis ("View Full Assessment"): If you want to see a granular breakdown of your performance, you can tap View Full Assessment. This opens a detailed report highlighting exact word-level errors, grammatical corrections, and advanced vocabulary alternatives to help you sound more like a native speaker.

Reviewing Your Conversation History

Want to look back at a past discussion or track your improvement over time? ELSA allows you to revisit your completed dialogues whenever you need a refresher.

Key benefits of accessing your conversation history include:

Replay Past Transcripts: Re-read the entire text exchange between you and the AI character to see exactly how the conversation flowed and remember context.
Re-listen to Audio: Tap the speaker icons on previous text bubbles to listen to the AI's native pronunciation or review your own recorded speech.
Access Previous Feedback: Instantly pull up the Assessment Summary for any past lesson to remind yourself of the vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation tips you received, helping you reinforce what you learned.
