Email: forwarding & branded replies
Updated July 11, 2026·8 views
Two ways to run email, depending on how branded you want replies to look.
Managed: forward + Reply-To (the simple default)
Forward your support address to your PilotPM inbox address (see Connect your inbox). Replies go out through PilotPM with your support address as the Reply-To, so customers reply straight back to you. No DNS changes needed — this works the moment forwarding is set up.
Branded: send from your own domain
On higher plans you can send replies from your own domain (not just reply-to it). PilotPM generates the exact DNS records for you to add:
- DKIM — a signing record so replies are cryptographically verified as genuinely from your domain.
- Return-Path — aligns the bounce/return address with your domain.
Add the records we give you, we verify them, and outbound mail is branded to your domain. Branded sending is rolling out — if you'd like it turned on for your workspace, get in touch.
Tips
- Keep your forwarding rule in place even with branded sending on — it's how inbound arrives.
- If replies land in spam, an unverified domain is the usual cause; finish the DKIM + Return-Path setup.
